Sk8Park Friends,
Why Spartanburg needs a skatepark
- •We are in need on positive and recreational things for kids to do
- •Skateboarding is the 2nd fastest growing participant sport in the US
- •It will be a great community builder for kids of all ages
Plans for Spartanburg’s first skate park on Union Street (adjacent to the Rail Trail) are moving along great and we are hoping to start construction next month. The skate park will be manned by the city and will have bathrooms, lights, a shade structure and a concession’s building. In addition to the skate park, there are plans to create a children’s play area near the site as well. Skaters, leaders from the community and the city have really stepped up to the plate, embraced the project, and are making to build a really fabulous skate park Spartanburg can be really proud of!
To date we have raised over half the money and now are looking to you and your friends to get involved and help raise the remainder of the money we need to buy the equipment. This is a really important part of process. It will be your park so give generously if you can. This skate park will be here for many years to come and is truly an investment in giving children and skaters a place to use their creative energy.
